Was having conversation with one of the "concerned" around my area, and... WALA! I chance upon a slogan ad on facebook that goes "Letting go of a best friend?". Immediately I thought it was "funeral for dogs/cats" and stuff... But, it turns out the blog addresses what I was discussing. Bitch fiend (Friends) heres goes "Obviously, no one goes into a friendship with the intention of ending it. However, I have learned from this incident that there are times when ending a friendship is very well the best way forward, assuming that everything has already been done to work out the issues. While the below are written in the context of friendships, they apply to all relationships as well. 1) When the friendship is causing you more anguish than joyDo you have any friendships which seem to be causing more unhappiness than happiness? We form friendships with others to support each other to become better persons. When the friendship you are in is causing you more anguish than joy, it defeats the purpose why you are even in the friendship to begin with. Unfortunately, most people stay on in negative relationships, causing themselves lots of unhappiness in the process. If you have friendships which are causing you more pain than joy, it might be time to evaluate whether it’s worth it to hold on to them. 2) When he/she is putting in little to no effort in the relationship. This wasn’t applicable for my situation, but there are times when dynamics of the friendship is lopsided. Say, when one person is putting in more effort than the other person. Such a situation tells you a lot about how much (or little) the friendship means to him/her. As the saying goes – It takes two hands to clap. Without the other person giving the friendship the same attention and priority to this as you are, things can never work out. Sooner than later, you’ll find yourself bending over backwards to keep this friendship afloat. In this case, the best form of respect you can give to yourself is to let the friendship go. If the other person doesn’t value this in the same way, it is pointless to continue on. 3) When the same situation/issue keeps recurring even though you tried addressing itWhere there are obstacles in the friendship, you should first try to sort out these issues with your friend. However, there may come a time when issues remain unresolved despite that. Maybe the friend doesn’t care enough about the friendship (factor #2 above). Maybe both of you are not willing to compromise. Maybe the differences are too huge to be worked out. Whatever the reasons are, there comes a point where you have to acknowledge that these issues might very well be irreconcilable. You can continue to try to resolve them, but if they could be resolved, they would have been addressed right at the on-start. While you can pour your heart and soul into making things work out, in the long run you become a slave to the relationship. 4) When your fundamental values and beliefs are differentFor any friendship or relationship to work out, there has to be certain similarity in fundamental values. Similarity in these values are the big rocks which will hold the friendship in place. Even if other things are dissimilar, the big rocks will enable the friendship to weather through even the toughest storms ahead. On the other hand, if the core values are fundamentally different, it doesn’t matter even if everything else is same. The journey to keep the relationship together will only become an uphill battle. It’s just like trying to hold the soil of the ground together in a heavy rain. Without the roots of the tree to hold this soil together, everything will just slip away against your best efforts. For me and K, our friendship started off where we were similar in our consciousness. As I grew through the years, our fundamental philosophies no longer fit. From there, it was either we compromise on our personal growth, or we part ways to embrace our real life paths. We went for the latter. I believe the most important thing in life is to first be true to ourselves. While conformance has its merits, it should never be done at the expense of our own growth or our values. Compromising on your personal values just to keep a friendship afloat will ultimately only make you miserable. What’s worse, because your true self is repressed, you start to wrap your identity around the friendship. This was what happened to K, which was why we had to let go of the relationship partly so he could grow into his own. You need to first be true to who you are before any meaningful relationship can be formed. 5) When the friendship is preventing either of you from growing as individualsA friendship is ultimately a third entity formed due to two individuals. Every friendship evolves based on how both parties are growing. Sometimes both parties grow at the same pace. There are times where the friendship is one of stagnancy, where both parties don’t grow. Then there are times when one outgrows the other, by a large margin. When this happens, you have two options (i) change the dynamics of the friendship to fit this new development, or change yourself to maintain the same dynamics. As I shared in Factor #4, it’s most important to first be true to ourselves. Determine who you are and who you want to be, then decide if this friendship is one that is compatible with you. A friendship that hinders you from growing into your own isn’t the best one for you. On top of that, if you are not able to grow into your own, chances are your friend is facing a similar blockage as well. A real friendship should be one that enables you in your personal life journey, so you can then enable your friend and others in their life journeys as well. Moving ForwardAs all of us evolve in our own personal journeys, we will cross paths with many different people. Some will be just a brief encounter. Some will stay for a while, then leave when the intent of the encounter is served. Some will stay for an extended period of time. Remember that physical friendships may be temporary, but the connection we have towards one another is eternal. Because of that, always ensure the friendships you are in are the ones which are enabling you in your life path. If the friendship is not enabling either party, the best way forward is to let it go. Perhaps one day, when you guys are at a different, better place in life, you might just cross paths again. This time, both of you will be able to connect with each other on a whole different capacity altogether, leading to a different level of connection altogether. The picture that was posted yesterday? They was one of the design module I had in Poly days. It's a character in Naruto and I sort of made it a Q version. Got a B for that :( ANYWAY! Had a really fun time swimming laps and getting myself tanned (besides I must say this.. I felt intrigue with WHITE men with short briefs lying either side of me.)Pretty good timing I must say; well, I recorded my timing based on the wall clock anyway, and it was about 10 min for 10 laps. "Pretty impressive" to myself. And a side note is that I had NEVER swam freestyle till I'm 18. I still remember the day when I first started out strict-freestyle-diet, I literally blew off both arms and was close enough to tear/ pull ligaments on many occasions. Well.. I survived :) Great noon with self and once again (seemingly I really do advocate 'singleness' quite a numerous time if you really trace back) was really refreshing! Sometime I really like to soak myself up into the warm noon sipping a nice lukewarm cup of tea looking at people passing by, depicting the colors of life. Or maybe be under some shady tree or void deck 'lapak-ing' time and look at how foolish young people can be (that kinda reminds myself of how I spent my childhood knowing my boundaries. (For instance, NEVER try to lift any part of a stray stationary cat. They'll scratch.) Did some walking down to 925 and did exactly what I was saying earlier on. Borrowed a book from library and paid a fine (How the hell did I ever incurred any fine?!) Oh well. Was browsing the web and saw this very cool institution. Basically a tertiary, providing higher learning such as route to getting a degree. The best part? School fee costs mere S$9,000. (Cheap!) The awesome-mest?! It's purely for polytechnic graduate. But the downside is that it only offer limited course from various oversea Uni that stretches from USA to The United Kingdom. I sort of look through the list they're offering and none of them actually applied to me. But the course on games design sound rather interesting. And the first impression I have was.. LEONG! Alright! Guess baby did hit the jackpot for this time round. My World REALLY do revolves around her now; that is everyone else are in the GATSBY camp now.
Rather felt like how it was like when everyone else were in school and I'm jobless. Still nostalgia eh? Howsoever it doesn't really matters that much now as I'm kinda fulfilled since I'm having part time some where else. Right! Did came across this passage that really strikes something in my heart. (And once again this show how much God do understand.) "they say to themselves: 'Christians are not supposed to have struggles, so when someone asks me how I am, I had better not let the side down - so I will pretend things are fine.' ... ... ... sadly, churches tend to reward those who can create illusion of having everything together... ... such people may be less spiritual than those whose integrity compels them not to deny their struggles." How true is that? And many a times I do face prosecutions and much akin to the matter; accusations, since on the outlook of myself being critical, sadistic and emotionally unstable. How people could get so myopic to such sensitive people whom are suppose to nudge about a change and stir up the sentiments of negligence. In every way, we ought to strike a balance I suppose and that I must agree, I do point one finger across the board but the other 4 are unconsciously on myself, which ought to roll out some reflection. Anyway... Quiznos serve great subs. If this is any random to you... Yes I am being random now. :P |

And like what some will say "CRAP! BULLS!" Oh well... I survived waking up everyday before 6am that is for sure. "What that doesn't kills you strengthen you!" YA! What that doesn't kills ALSO TORTURE YOU! But then, what is it about negativity that we are always so near to it. It's just a feeling opposing ourselves. And besides, I must do agree that the new method in making notes did made me a better student. Speaking of student, I miss the application for NTU/NIE! I remember this one time while praying I made a resolve. I mentioned that "I will just apply for NTU/NIE for just one more time and should that be not the course, I will be willing to let go now." Looks like He had came to the final straw.... cause He didn't even allowed me to apply. Ha! literally saying "FOCUS LA!" Anyway, the wonderful time were really well spent on students from 4NA deiyi and I really see the joy of nurturing them, guiding and even walking alongside as them. Nonetheless any occupation will get your nearer than a teacher. "Nothing gets closer" (Sounds RSN) .. Guess I will get a part-time Dip for counselling or such so that I could do some of these during my spare time. :):) Life is GOOD! Even thought sometimes you are place in the middle of some s**thole. ENJOY! (Thats me on the extreme left btw.) |

Awesome WEEKEND!
(Just to think that HELL is about to break loose soon.) I would be so looking forward to : - SLAVING MY LIFE OUT FOR HW/PW AND TESTS - FIGURING OUT HOW TO MAP GRAPH THAT LOOKS LIKE THAILAND'S HIGHWAY SYSTEM - READ MYSELF TO SLEEP WITH ISSUES FROM TIME, ECONOMIST AND STRAITS TIME BUSINESS - GETTING MYSELF ALL WHITE AND FAT - SPILL MY GUTS OVER IPPT AND IN-CAMP TRAINING(I'm trying to push it though. Playing black&white is never so fun. TRUST ME) And the matter of fact-y that I will be slogging this whole week on consignments from Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group (AKLTG). Job profile? Trainer's Assistant. Layman term? Trainer's sidekick Do what? Lung audio equipments, count materials and... Get motivated from lesson taught there. Where can get? Send in your resume to franco@akltg.com and see if your luck runs you in or out? While slot last, each acceptance separately and terms and conditions applied. Or you can always ask my personal manager, nick, per-se. ---- Basically chocking myself up, the lighter side, counting money from "ang pow" have never taken it's toll on me. (Yaya.. rather late to count em though). Kinda reminds me of being that accountant should I get listed into CPA. ("Meticulous" is one of the last words to describe me.) Being in that position, I happen to want to catch up my fitness level to some extent. Besides the fact that I was literally "fit" during the NOV - DEC '07 season. And it went down as much like Lehman brother's stock listing when I was overrun with much temptations out there and adding on to the fact I OOC from my BOC course. HEHE! I manage to finish my SEC-COM course; ERSC, course nevertheless. But as it was well said, and I'd paraphrase. "I consider all these histories and achievements... RUBBISH!!!!! In the knowledge of possessing my pink IC once again some 1 years later/ago." And I'm very much comforted. :) |

Guess I will get a part-time Dip for counselling or such so that I could do some of these during my spare time. :):) Life is GOOD! Even thought sometimes you are place in the middle of some s**thole. ENJOY! (Thats me on the extreme left btw.) |

I'd like the idea that I was paid to sit in a S$3,800 course to listen :)
The best part? NO PAPERS NEEDED FOR EVALUATIONS :) Like what the trainer always say, "Life is unfair! OF COURSE!" TEEHEEE...
